I saw these shoes in River Island this evening and am besotted, sadly they only go to size 8 and I’m a 9.
So…just wondering if anyone has come across anything similar in their online shoe searches and might be able to point me to where I might find something similar!
thanks!

Hi Cat,

I was hoping some retailers or fashionistas could have got back to you on this, but since I haven’t had time to promote this site yet it’s pretty quiet! I’d seen your post, but I’ve been sick with a cold the past few days and forgot all about it sorry!

I haven’t seen any styles quite like this on my travels, but here are a few I have found with a good selection of flats which might be of use:

Next Directory have some nice flats and pumps here (zoom past the sporty styles on the first couple of pages) and you can order size 9 online and try on and collect in store (no obligation to take if you don’t like them):

Large Size Designer Shoes (Dundalk based website) glam but pricey!

Barefoot Tess (US so shipping is pricey!):

Oxendales - I just realised on a TV ad today that they go up to size 9 in most styles. Most of their flats are not as high street, a bit more conservative, but there are a few funkier styles in there:

Sorry I can’t be more help on this, but do let us know if you track something similar down.

Thanks for the response & the help Janine!

I’ve slightly wide feet so Next hasn’t really worked out for me in the past. I’ve been looking through some of Barefoot Tess’ products and there’s a nice selection there, I happen to be over in the US in a couple of weeks for work reasons, so might try to get a few pairs shipped to work! grin

Oxendales was a surprise - some nice shoes there too, and reasonably priced!

Just back to my wide-ish size 9’s for a minute, i bought a pair of flats in ShoeZone last weekend, bargain price of 15euro, i guess you get what u pay for, cause within about 2 days of wearing, the upper was lifting away from the sole. When I went to return them, the “lady” behind the counter “I can clearly see you have wide feet and this is obviously the cause of the damage to the shoe” there was no arguing with her.

I was gobsmacked by her rudeness and complete lack of customer service. Needless to say I didn’t get a refund or a replacement, but perhaps I’ll try another ShoeZone store elsewhere and maybe someone more compassionate!

I don’t believe my feet were too wide for the shoes in question or that this witch should have treated me with such distain. The only thing I can think is that the quality of the shoes is so poor that they might regularly get returns, so have a number of canned responses where they blame the damage on the customer rather than the quality of the shoes. Rant over. wink  But I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has ever had any similar troubles….......??

cheers!

I have wide feet too - majorly wide rather than slightly wide - so I know your troubles!

I have heard that the majority of Barefoot Tess styles are suited to slender feet, but Karen from Barefoot Tess wrote to me a while back and suggested that the Blowfish flats are very wide.

Hard luck re Shoezone. I recently discovered that they do size 9s. I know some of their styles are a bit cheap and nasty but you can get lucky and you can’t beat the price, but that’s no good if they break after a couple of days! :( Their customer service sounds atrocious as well - they sound like the Ryanair of shoe shops! :(

I know it was only a few bob, but I would have ate the sales assistant!!! I’d have quoted the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act and told her that since the shoes were not fit for purpose, I was entitled by law to a refund, repair or replacement. Well, if I’m honest, if it happened to someone else I was with, I’d have definitely done that, but if it happened to me she would probably have really upset me and I would have just left, had a cry, and avoided the shop forever more. :(

I even hate asking if they do any styles in size 9 in normal shoe shops now. The tone and look you get from so many shop assistants takes it’s tolls - you would swear you were saying you had a third foot and wondered if they sold shoes in trios instead of pairs! :D

Hey Janine,
ha ha, a third foot would be so much easier!
Just a quick update - I had some success with Shoezone after a little patience - they would only allow me return the broken pair to the same shop, but i choose a day when the awful sales manager wasn’t there and got a brand new pair!  Oh, and i managed to pick up another 3 pairs of shoes while i was there too….. :-D .... hope i don’t regret that, but hey, such a great feeling to have a choice!
Ciao!
