Hello Ladies,

I guess its time I introduced myself on here, this is my first post. I live in the West Midlands in the UK, I have two beautiful daughters aged 11 and 13 and I work part time in our local post office.

I have had size nine feet since I was about fifteen and its always been a nightmare getting nice shoes that dont make my feet look like boats :0)

It is not as bad now as it used to be, there is alot more selection out there but its still difficult at times. I love shoes, probably more so as my feet are big and it makes me feel better when I wear pretty shoes but comfort plays a huge factor too! I find these blogs and forums really helpful especially for new sites and special offer alerts. Looking forward to chatting with you all. Summer holidays are upon us now so I will not have as much time to post but I will be keeping an eye on here.

Take Care,
Cathy.

Hi Cathy,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for adding so many posts already! smile
Despite this recession, I’m (luckily) up the walls with work, and so haven’t had the time to complete and launch this site properly yet, but one of these days it will happen, and then hopefully will be a bit more lively!

I have size 9 feet too, and I still find it difficult too. Even resorted to buying a pair from QVC lately to try and get out of trainers.
My problem is that I’m really only interested in casual, comfortable shoes I can do lots of walking in.
While finding dressy shoes was a complete nightmare back in the 90s when I was a teenager, the online websites and specialist stores seem to fill this niche well, but I find fashionable, casual styles are still elusive.
I’m not being that fussy (I hope!). I regularly see lots of shoes in Clarks or M&S that I would wear, so I’m hardly asking for cutting edge fashion! smile

Is there any sign of your girls inheriting your feet? If so, hopefully, things will have improved further by the time they’re all grown up. Once I can get a couple of weeks to really power on with this site, my hope is that it will help us all find more shoes in the long term, perhaps even in mainstream stores - I can dream! smile

Janine.

QVC?? Wow, thanks for the tip. A place I never thought of looking. Sometimes you can be lucky on Amazon too but a lot of the shoes are quite dowdy…..

My eldest daughter has size six feet already so watch this space…........ My youngest is only a size four so we will just have to wait and see!!

Well the best of luck Janine with everything.

Yes, I admit I do watch QVC on occasion. My mum got me into it. You start watching it and think it’s the most tragic thing ever, and then before you know it you start buying! smile

Shoe wise, only some styles go up to 9-9.5 UK. Some of the fashion on QVC is decidedly dodgy, so it can be very hit and miss. But it can be handy to check the site from time to time to see what’s in stock.

Here’s the 9-9.5 shop by size page: http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.nav/params.dept.UKAOKDMU/walk.yah.UKFA~U108

I prefer to buy shoes in person because I have “awkward” feet that seldom feel comfy in a shoe even if it fits.

The one advantage of buying from QVC is that you have 30 days to send stuff back, regardless of how much you use it.
You don’t get the inflated P&P back of course, and you have to pay the postage to send it back, so altogether you would be down about ten euro for a pair of shoes I think, but a bit less for cosmetics. That’s usually what I buy - fancy creams can be expensive and you can try high end stuff out for a month and see if it is actually any use, or just get most of your money back if not.

The pair I ordered were only 30 euro including P&P. In truth, I don’t think they’re great. Grand for popping to the shops, but I walked for about half an hour yesterday and felt a bit of a blister. Not sure if I’ll bother returning them to get 20 quid back, but it is good feeling you can road test shoes properly and still return them if you want.
