January 2026 News

I update this post through the month with news about big shoes.

UK retro brand Joanie closes down

On 21st January, UK online store Joanie Clothing announced their sudden closure on Instagram. They did gorgeous vintage inspired size 9 / 43 shoes in cute colours and their inclusive clothing range was very popular, so the news came as a shock.

The Joanie website is actually still online at time of writing, with just a tiny strip across the top saying "Please note we are currently unable to accept any orders", and apparently they stopped taking orders a few days before they announced the closure on social media.

I fear 2026 will be another year of brands going bust unfortunately. It's extremely hard times for niche retailers.
