MCLC Closing Down Sale up to size 14 us

In very sad news, Jacky is closing her indie shoe brand MCLC after 5 years. She created ridiculously cute colourful shoes & boots up to size 14 us, and there's still a few boots left in sizes 12-14 us as of July 23.

There's no size filter, and no returns on these last pairs, but if you love quirky playful shoes that make you smile with every step, check out the closing down sale while you can.

Jacky mentions the economy and tariffs as factors in her decision, and I fear this won't be the only brand we lose.

Loafers & luxe sandals for size 42-46

Laura at Otto + Ivy is a busy bee with 2 brand new styles this month, both available in sizes 42-46 standard fit, shipping worldwide from the UK.

First up is Penny, a pretty & practical stretch back loafer. There's 4 colours to choose from - black, tan, leopard print & silver - woohoo!

The other fab flat is Lani, a luxe sandal - see video below. With generous ruched cross over straps in gold or black leather (or cheetah print suede!), they're oh so flattering for long feet.

Heads up: Otto + Ivy UK returns will no longer be free from August - totally understandable for a small business.

Now is a good time for shoe bargains in general with many stores having their annual summer sales:

Budget Ballet Flats up to 15 us, 13 uk

Amazon Prime Day is over already alas, but it's still worth knowing about their Essentials flats range. Select styles go right up to 15 us (13 uk) in standard and wide width. These budget ballet flats get good reviews too.

The Amazon US and UK essentials ranges have several styles including stretch ballet flats, loafers & mary janes - in both neutrals and accent colours - & all extremely affordable.

While I prefer to shop local where possible or buy direct from brands, I find it hard to do without Amazon Prime - the fast, free delivery is beyond compare! If you're new to Prime or just haven't had it in a while you can get a free trial.

Travel Shoes up to size 47 at Tropicfeel

I've just discovered Spanish brand Tropicfeel who make sustainable water shoes and waterproof sneakers for all your outdoor adventures.

All their shoes are unisex and go up to size 47 - yay! My fave is their new lightweight Sunset Breeze sneaker, a cute look for summer.

Mary Jane Flats at Birkenstock

Birkenstock have launched a new mary jane flat the Santa Clarita - available in classic black & stunning silver leather (EU & UK only so far). They're similar to the Tracy flats I bought earlier this year - now sold out aside from the USA I think.

They're available in both narrow fit and regular up to size 43.

Now I find Birkenstock sizing generous and the 42 (8 uk / 11 us) fits me for their closed shoes as well as sandals, even though I'm size 8.5-9 uk (42.5-43). So I'd be hopeful the size 43 could fit size 9.5-10 uk or 12-12.5 us.

BUT my sister definitely needed her usual shoe size 41 in Tracy (having first sized down to 40 on my advice - oops). I can't remember us EVER being only 1 euro size apart - it shows you just how fussy feet can be!

We both love twinning in our silver Birks. It's rare for Birkenstocks to do flat shoes - I've been waiting YEARS! So I'm hopeful that 2 flats within a year signals a welcome change.

Tip: while most Birkenstocks are suitable for wide feet, assuming Santa Clarita fit similar to Tracy, they're not as wide, so I'd only recommend the regular width for at most slightly wide feet.

Heads up: Birkenstock members (accounts are free) get early access to the 30% off summer sale from 23 July - this new style isn't included but their bestsellers are and it makes them much more affordable!
