Attention Long Tall Sally fans: closing down sale & help finding alternatives

Update 18 August: The Long Tall Sally brand has been sold & will continue under new ownership from 1 September 2020.

It was a shock when Long Tall Sally announced mid June 2020 that it was closing after 44 years.

Over the years I've sadly seen many niche large size shoe retailers disappear. But LTS was synonymous with tall clothing. Long established, they had bought up several competitors over the years & were the go-to brand for many tall women.

So the impending closure caused much anxiety & concern. It's bad enough when your height limits your fashion buying options, but when the brand you relied on for so many years vanishes, where can you find tall clothes now?

Closing Down Sale

The original Long Tall Sally owners held a closing down sale over Summer 2020 and continued trading until the end of August 2020.

The new owners took over from 1 September 2020, initially just selling the last of the old LTS stock. They also started selling wide fit footwear from their plus size clothing brand Yours Clothing. New Long Tall Sally stock started arriving later in 2020 with the first new LTS collection shoe designs launched in Spring 2021.

Facebook Group: TALLternative Retail

Vicky Chevis set up a private Facebook group in August 2020 called Now LTS is closing, what's the alternative? which grew quickly from the off.

In January 2021, the group was renamed Tallternative Retail and has over 7000 members as of April 2021.

It's a great place for tall women to get help from others & share their favourite shops & brands.

Vicky has also started a campaign to encourage more retailers to have tall clothing & footwear ranges. A working group has already been set up to focus on specific aspects. The more people who get involved the better. Every voice matters, so join the Facebook Group & make yours count.
