Women with big feet can often be tall too, which can mean double trouble for clothes shopping. Tallgirls is a UK website which specialises in fashionable clothing & footwear in longer lengths, and here’s their Shoe Shop Story:

When did you set up Tallgirls & why?

Tallgirls was originally launched in 1998 by Joanne McHarg at the age of 25. At 6ft3 with a size UK 10 shoe Joanne had become increasingly frustrated at the lack of choice in footwear for girls with a UK shoe size 9, 10 or 11 (euro 43,44, 45). Joanne thought there must be other tall girls in the UK who struggled not only to find shoes that fit, but also to find footwear that was fashionable. In 1998 she launched her first mail order brochure with just a handful of shoes in sizes 9-11. The response was overwhelming and after two years trading the range had grown and customers kept requesting clothing for tall girls. In 2001 Joanne launched the first Tallgirls clothing range designed specifically for fashion conscious tall women from 5ft10” to 6ft3”.

What shoe sizes do you stock?

UK 9, 10, 11, 12 (US 11,12,13,14) (Euro 43,44,45,46).

Tell us about the range of styles available:

We try to cater for every occasion, so have an abundance of flat and heeled styles for work, school, everyday, occasion wear, plus bridal shoes, slippers, sports trainers, sandals, and boots.

Do you have your own label or stock any brands hard to find elsewhere?

We stock a mixture of own brand and branded styles.

Do you only sell online?

We are an online store and ship to anywhere in the world, but we also have a showroom near Alton in Hampshire which is open by appointment.

What do you enjoy most about running a store specialising in tall clothing & larger shoe sizes?

The most rewarding moments have been when shy tall teenagers walk in to the showroom with little hope of walking out with anything that fits; and by the end of their appointment they leave with smiles on their faces and armfuls of bags. Or the excitable chatter coming from the changing rooms at our Pop Up Shops when our lovely tall customers compare styles and try on each others garments!

Finally, which 3 styles best sum up Tallgirls?
